Setting up a CCNA Study Environment with GNS3 and VMware

I will not go into detail set operating system has a lot of resources available, this part of the environment. You will need at least vaguely familiar with the command-line interface ( CLI) and the basic operation command, otherwise you'll find out the process is a little difficult.

Once your operating system installed and configured properly, the first step is to continue and install some reliance on the use of apt - get:

Install dynagenpython-qt4

This should download and install the dynagen and python-qt4 library. Next, you need to download and install gns30.6.1. There is a new version of GNS3 is available, but the earlier attempts to get the operating environment of the new version of GNS3 leads to problems. Once again, your results may differ. Version of 0.6.1gns3 is available from the gns3Source Forge website.

Once you GNS3 download, unzip it to a directory of your choice ( I choose / select / GNS3 ).

< GNS3 > / tmp directory

Download a Dynamips ( but usually available here ), put it into the Dynamips directory is created, and use the directory command which executable file. At this point you should have a working GNS3 installation. You still need to find the operating system using the image; once you have a valid image, put in the directory you created earlier and configuration in the GNS3 need. You should be able to create a router instance, start it, and access the router's console gns3.

You can stay there, there is a cool environment, but I want to further. I also installed the VMware Workstation function ( I won't go into detail here, this is a fairly simple process ), and then use the virtual network editor to create some additional host network ( in addition to the default VMnet1 ). Again, this is irrefutable evidence, so I'm not to discuss the process of any length. The interesting part is how to connect GNS3 of the host network so that the system can be incorporated into your GNS3 router topology.

Here's how you can connect to the GNS3 and virtual machine host network workstation:

In GNS3, the cloud topology objects.

Right click on the cloud object selection and configuration.

On nickel Ethernet label universal Ethernet nickel part, choose one of the host network ( such as VMnet1 ) and click add. This will create a link between the object and the selected host network cloud.

At this point, you can add a virtual machine to the selected host network, connecting the router cloud, and through traffic from the virtual router. Cool! Am I right?

I have to do is create a simple network system connected to 2 different host network is connected to different objects and different router cloud. I then created a" serial link" between the two routers ( GNS3 does not, as far as I can tell, it simulated a WAN link bandwidth and delay ) and configuration are so I can pass from one virtual machine speed in" virtual wan".
